Welcome to Our Practice
We offer therapy services for adults and adolescents. We use evidenced-based treatments including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and Alpha-Stim therapy. We also provide Telehealth sessions to assist clients with busy lifestyles as well as those across the great State of Texas.
We are well known in the community for our comprehensive psychological assessments as well. We conduct assessments for adults, teens, and children starting at age six, including mood disorder testing, personality testing, and assessment for ADHD.
All of our psychological assessments are conducted by a licensed psychologist. Our psychologists believe in administering all aspects of the testing process. It is common practice within the assessment field to have a student or psychometrist administer the tests. This is likely a cost-saving measure for such practices, as the doctor can see a client while the student or psychometrist administers the tests, thus resulting in more revenue for the practice. Our psychologists love assessment and believe in administering tests without support from non-doctoral providers. By having the doctor complete the testing, this reduces the risk of errors and supports our goal of “quality over quantity.”
Michael Morris, PsyD – Owner/Founder
Dr. Michael Morris is the Owner and Founder of North Texas Psychology. He has over 20 years of education, training, and experience in psychology and is regarded as an expert in cognitive behavioral therapy and other evidence-based treatments with adolescents and adults as well as psychological assessment with patients from age six through older adults. Dr. Morris was born and raised in Texas and is pleased to be able to provide face-to-face services in North Texas as well as Telehealth services to those in rural communities across Texas.
Dr. Morris believes in your body’s natural ability to create and sustain health. His goal is to provide psychological care that benefits the entire person, not just to alleviate symptoms. As a result, Dr. Morris’ practice relies on a vision of integrated care. Medications, if prescribed by your physician, are coupled with evidence-based psychological interventions as well as mindfulness and meditation where indicated. Many patients consider reducing reliance on psychiatric medications through consultation with their physician once gains from therapy and lifestyle changes are fully realized.
Dr. Morris completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Stephen F. Austin State University. He then earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. After completing his Social Work training, he accepted a position with Turtle Creek Manor in Dallas treating patients experiencing mental illness and addiction. Through this work, he recognized the benefit of quality psychological assessment and returned to graduate school to develop specialized assessment skills, ultimately earning his Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University/Dallas.
At the conclusion of his doctoral training, Dr. Morris was honored to complete a prestigious Predoctoral Internship with the Wichita Collaborative Psychology Internship Program in Wichita, KS, which has been continually accredited by the American Psychological Association for over 50 years. While on internship, Dr. Morris provided psychotherapy and psychological assessment services in a community mental health setting while completing specialized training in neuropsychological assessment at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita. Upon returning to Dallas, Dr. Morris completed a postdoctoral residency in psychological assessment and psychotherapy in a private practice before joining this group as a partner.
As his practice continued to grow, Dr. Morris transitioned from group practice to develop his own private practice offices in Frisco and Mesquite, focusing specifically on providing high quality psychological services to children, adolescents, and adults, aimed at increasing the psychological health of North Texas individuals and families. Through his practice experiences, Dr. Morris has periodically accepted requests to supervise doctoral psychology students so that he might share his unique philosophy of delivering services focused on psychological health and well-being.
To assist in developing the skills necessary to deliver outstanding mental health services, Dr. Morris is highly involved in professional associations and training organizations. He is an active member of the Texas Psychological Association and the Dallas Psychological Association. He has served as Secretary, Treasurer, and President of the Dallas Psychological Association, one of the largest and most respected regional psychological associations in the nation.
